The candidate needs to demonstrate strong visionary leadership and preaching ability. We are looking for an individual who has integrity, teachability and Christ-like character. This person has experience in disciple-making, leadership training, and team building.

Education:
  • Master of Divinity from a recognized accredited seminary.
Experience:
  • Prefer 7 or more years of pastoral ministry experience in North America

Language :

  • Mandarin and English; Cantonese is beneficial

CHILDREN'S DIRECTOR / MINISTER

Purpose: Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is looking for a children's director/minister to lead and oversee the children's ministry (pre-school through elementary), known as “Kidnection.” Beginning in 1975, HCC now has English, Mandarin, and Cantonese-speaking congregations, with Sunday attendance around 1000, and total children's attendance of approximately 150 kids (~110 of which are in pre-school through elementary). HCC's “Kidnection” ministry aims to provide a safe place for faith formation where children will learn, grow, and be cared for, where co-laborers are equipped and encouraged, and where parents are the primary disciplers of their children. Therefore, HCC wants a children's director/minister who has a vision and passion to connect children and their families to Jesus and to make God-loving and compassionate disciples beginning at a young age.

 

General Responsibilities:

•  Work with the pastoral staff to align the children's ministry vision to that of HCC.

•  Provide leadership and oversee the general direction of the children's ministries, which includes: nursery, pre-school, elementary, Awana Clubs, and Vacation Bible School (VBS), and summer programs.

•  Recruit, train, and care for teachers, worship/song leaders and musicians, ministry coordinator(s).

•  Determine quarterly curriculum for Sunday school classes for pre-school through elementary.

•  Update database of children's registration information, classroom lists and sign-in sheets.

•  Maintain a safe and clean environment in classrooms and keep materials organized and in place.

•  Keep current inventory of supply room items and all classroom cabinets.

•  Order teaching supplies and additional classroom materials, furniture, and toys as needed.

•  Coordinate with church library to order children's, family discipleship, and other books as needed.

•  Communicate with General Affairs Deacon and Church Administrator for facility needs.

•  Work with children's choir volunteers and Chinese school teachers on facility and classroom usage.

•  Work with Nursery Coordinator and Children's Ministry Deacon to prepare annual budget.

•  Welcome and acquaint new families and visitors.

•  Be familiar with and care for HCC children and their families.

•  Provide resources and periodic seminars for parents.

•  Recruit church members to lead and serve on the children's ministry prayer team.

•  Advocate for the place of children and children's ministries in the church community.

Qualifications:

•  Must be a baptized believer of Jesus Christ, and demonstrate integrity, grace, and commitment to HCC.

•  Knowledge of children's spiritual development and innovative approaches to children's ministry.

•  Fluent in English language required; knowledge of Chinese language a plus.

Purpose: Houston Chinese Church (HCC) is looking for a nursery coordinator to lead and oversee the nursery ministry for children ranging from birth to age 3. Beginning in 1975, HCC now has English, Mandarin, and Cantonese-speaking congregations, with Sunday attendance around 1000, and total children's attendance of approximately 150 kids (~40 of which are nursery-age). At HCC, we aim to provide quality care and supervision of children in a secure, nurturing environment where each child will see, hear, and feel the love of Jesus Christ and parents can feel confident their child will receive great care and teaching. Therefore, HCC wants a nursery coordinator who believes that discipleship begins with even the youngest of children.

 

General Responsibilities:

•  Determine and prepare curriculum for children's classes

•  Order teaching supplies and additional classroom materials, furniture, and toys as needed.

•  Maintain a safe and clean environment in nursery rooms and keep materials organized and in place. •  Update database of children's registration information, classroom lists and sign-in sheets.

•  Recruit, train, and supervise paid-caregivers and volunteers in their different roles.

•  Oversee scheduling and email communication with paid-caregivers and volunteers.

•  Coordinate with other departments to provide childcare for special events as needed.

•  Work with Children's Minister to submit annual budget for nursery department.

•  Welcome and acquaint new families and visitors.

•  Be familiar with and care for nursery children and their families.

•  Provide resources for parents (schedule guest speaker lectures, recommend books or videos).
